Beta Nappatzim ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Beta Nappatzim mobile application. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and which third-party services process data on our behalf when you use the app.
Information We Collect
When you use Beta Nappatzim, we collect the following types of information:
- Account information – email address, username, and password (stored as a secure hash) when you create an account. If you sign in with Google, we receive your verified email address and a Google account identifier to link or create your account.
- Profile information – optional profile photo, display preferences, and settings you choose in the app.
- Climbing and workout data – training sessions, routes, grades, attempts, votes, comments, projects, and workout logs you enter in the app.
- Social and messaging data – follows, activity feed entries, visibility choices, and direct messages you send through in-app chat.
- Photos and videos – profile pictures, gym or layout images (for users who manage gyms), and climbing videos you upload.
Diagnostic and Usage Data
In production builds of the app (not during local development), we collect limited technical and usage data to keep the app reliable and to understand how features are used:
- Crash and error reports (Sentry) – when the app crashes or encounters certain errors, we may receive stack traces, app version, device and operating system information, and an opaque user identifier if you are signed in. We do not intentionally send passwords, message contents, or other sensitive personal content in crash reports.
- Product analytics (PostHog) – screen views, in-app actions (for example: starting or ending a session, completing a workout, uploading a video), and an opaque user identifier and username if you are signed in. Event properties are limited to non-sensitive identifiers (such as route or gym IDs) and counts; we do not send passwords, full chat messages, or free-text you type in forms to analytics.
Analytics and crash reporting are disabled in development builds of the app.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the app's functionality.
- Display your climbing progress, statistics, and training history.
- Enable social features such as activity feeds, following other climbers, chat, and sharing content according to your visibility settings.
- Authenticate your identity and secure your account.
- Diagnose crashes and errors, and understand which parts of the app are used so we can improve the experience.
Data Storage and Security
Your account data is stored on secure servers. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Photos and videos are stored using third-party media providers. We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the app. Each may process data as needed to perform its function:
- Cloudinary – storing and serving images (for example profile pictures and gym photos).
- Cloudflare Stream – storing, processing, and delivering climbing videos you upload.
- Google Sign-In – optional account sign-in; Google's privacy policy applies to the sign-in flow.
- Sentry – crash and error reporting in production builds (Sentry privacy policy).
- PostHog – product analytics in production builds (PostHog privacy policy).
- Expo / EAS – app builds and over-the-air updates.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these providers. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your GPS or precise device location.
- We do not use the app for advertising or collect advertising identifiers for ad targeting.
- We do not access your device contacts, calendar, or microphone (the camera is used only for in-app features such as reading grades when adding climbs; audio recording is disabled).
- We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. Your climbing data and activity may be visible to other users based on your privacy and visibility settings within the app. You can control what others see through the app's activity visibility preferences.

You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below.
